The Washington Post Features Maryland Security Professionals and the Purple Line Metro Project

benefits of mobile surveillance

Maryland Security Professionals is proud to be providing security services for the ongoing Purple Line Metro Project. Our innovative, state-of-the-art surveillance measures recently drew the attention of John Kelly from The Washington Post, who interviewed our director of accounts Chris Rhoades for an article titled, “What’s Up With Those Red-and-Blue Flashing Lights At Construction Sites?”

The Purple Line Stays On-Track with Enhanced Security

We built 17 solar mobile surveillance camera systems for the 16-mile light-rail Purple Line. Once completed between 2022 and 2024, the new line will contain 21 stations, connecting the Maryland suburbs of Bethesda, Silver Spring, College Park, and New Carrollton, and allowing riders to move between the red, green, and orange Washington Metro lines without traveling into central Washington D.C.

To keep the project moving on-track, the Maryland Transit Authority knew they needed to keep their construction sites secure and free from loss. That’s why they called Maryland Security Professionals.

An Effective Deterrent

The constantly blinking red-and-blue lights on our security mounts can be seen from a quarter-mile away. That’s very much intentional. As Chris Rhoades put it: “Our thought is that having hidden security cameras isn’t a creative deterrent. In the security field, we’d rather something not happen, than go back and catch someone after the fact. Those red-and-blue flashing lights are the deterrent value, showing those people in the criminal element that they are being watched 24/7.”

The solar mobile surveillance camera systems we use on the Purple Line project were all built in-house by skilled welders. Retired police officers work on staff to help build, install, and maintain every unit.

A writer John Kelly described it, our solar mobile surveillance camera system provides clients with the “flashing, unblinking eye of a remote RoboCop.”

Cost-Efficient Security Setups

Since 2005, Maryland Security Professionals has provided the Mid-Atlantic region with advanced tools to protect homes and businesses from all manner of security threats. We approach every project with the utmost in care, knowledge, skill, and leading-edge technology. Energy-efficient solar battery charging lowers cost and opens the door to advanced security options for a broader spectrum of clients. In addition to construction sites, we can deploy mobile units at outdoor festivals, concerts, special events, and gated communities. Up to four cameras can be mounted per unit, with license-plate recognition and infrared “night vision” capabilities available.

If you have any questions about our security systems or the work that we do, we are happy to discuss by phone or email. Call today to schedule a free on-site inspection and no-obligation estimate. We strive to accommodate a wide variety of needs and budgets, so call now to learn more about protecting your valued assets from the company that does it best.
